Abstract
Remote suspension and/or manipulation of micrometer-sized particles can be achieved by subjecting the particles to a laser beam.1 A laser beam can also be used to rotate objects with artificial non-symmetrical structures.2 In this paper we present numerical results for radiation force exerted on a sphere and on a ring. The predictions were confirmed by experimental measurement.
