New Class of Multiple Wavelength High Efficiency Solid State Lasers

Open Access Open Access

Abstract

Lasers simultaneously operating at several wavelengths have good prospect for medical, scientific, technological and other applications. Multiple wavelength lasers reported so far have a common shortcoming: they have low efficiency. Creation of effective multiwavelength lasers, which would simultaneously radiate at several wavelengths may widen the field of their applications. They may successfully be used in problems where either a multifunctional action is needed or an irradiated object is multicomponent. For example, lasers radiating at two different wavelengths could be used in medicine to provide both cutting and coagulation simultaneously.
