Abstract

Both coherent optical processing and holographic data storage systems, as well as SAR, ultrasound and endoscopic holography imaging suffer from loss of data due to speckle. This can't be overcome easily, so it is usually averaged out without the use of a proper criterion giving the number of speckled images to multiplex. Young proposed a coherent resolution criterion for a single image [1] while another one was given by us for multiple images [2], based on contrast considerations. Here we provide a new one. dealing with intensity statistics.
