Abstract
An ultra-compact slab-type CO2 laser has been operated in a pulsed regime obtained by switching the R. F. discharge. Laser pulses with power up to 480 W have been obtained at Pulse Repetition Rates (P. R. R.) in the range 0.5 - 10 kHz. The slab discharge channel measures 320 × 60 × 2 mm and has been fed with 2.1 KW R.F. in pulses with duration ranging from 30 to 1000 μs. Static gas fills of 1:1:3 and 1:1:5 CO2, N2, He, with or without 5% Xe admixture, have been tested.
