Phase zone plate smoothing - theory and optimisation

Abstract

The far-field intensity distributions of high-power laser systems play a critical role in determining beam-plasma coupling. Targets requiring large-area illumination have been placed in the quasi- near-field where the coherence of the beam produces a nonuniform and deeply modulated intensity distribution.
