Abstract

Last year there was an increasing interest in the fabrication and the investigation of low-dimensional structures such as quantum dots, quantum wells, superlattices (SL), etc. The semiconductor superlattices demonstrated a lot of interesting optical and nonlinear optical properties associated with their periodical structure. In this report we present our results on second-order nonlinear optical properties of Si/SiO2 superlattices, the influence of the external DC electric field, as well as Si and SiO2 thicknesses on the optical second harmonic intensity in this type of SL.
