Abstract

A highly nonlinear effect in high optical power excitation for high-speed operation has been found in a small footprint Si photonic ring modulator. The -3dB bandwidth of 21GHz at linear region can be improved to above 40GHz and >50Gb/s by power-dependent chirp.
