Portable Diagnostic for Malaria Detection in Low-Resource Settings

Abstract

We have designed a novel device to identify malaria in both symptomatic and asymptomatic populations by detecting the presence of hemozoin. Here, we detect clinically relevant concentrations of β-hematin, a synthetic mimic of hemozoin.
