How to Overcome the Distance Barrier in Quantum Communication: Quantum Repeaters and Quantum Memory

Open Access Open Access

Abstract

I will introduce quantum repeaters and one of its key ingredients, the quantum memory, and discuss the reversible storage of entangled photons, created via spontaneous parametric down-conversion, in a thulium-doped lithium-niobate waveguide cooled to 3K.
