Abstract

A sub-volt wavelength sweep operation of MEMS VCSELs is demonstrated by using a high-Q mechanical resonance. An optical sweep bandwidth of over 20 nm is exhibited with a resonance frequency of 167 kHz and a swing voltage of 0.7 Vpp. Also, a high resonance frequency could be increased over 700 kHz with a swing voltage of 5.9 Vpp thanks to high-Q resonance.
