Abstract
We analyzed the propagation of the light in a biaxial medium on the Poincare sphere. Once effective angles of optic axes and effective retardations of optical components are known, we can chase the trace of light propagation in a biaxial medium on the Poincare sphere. Geometrical approach gives us the effective angles of optic axes and the method of index ellipsoid gives the effective retardations. By presenting those on the Poincare sphere, the propagation of the light in an anisotropic medium can be easily analyzed, even in a biaxial medium.
