Abstract

We report the polarization switching dynamics of a 1.5-um wavelength single-mode vertical cavity surface emitting laser (VCSEL) under optical injection locking. An external laser beam injection of orthogonal polarization caused dynamical instability and the polarization switching of the VCSEL. The optimized condition for polarization switching was achieved by detuning the injection wavelength and power.
