Abstract

High brightness light sources are the key to novel applications of photons in manufacturing. Many areas can and will be innovated using the optical form of energy with high quality, based on coherence in time and space as well as short wavelengths for high spatial resolution. Simultaneously the power and energy of the sources have to be sufficient for the processes under consideration and can vary significantly depending on the industrial needs.
