Photon migration in biological tissues, their optical properties and imaging

Abstract

This paper reviews the phenomenon of photon migration in biological tissues which strongly scatter and weakly absorb light in the near infrared wavelength range. The optical properties of tissues are given, and the methods of obtaining optical tomographic images are introduced.
