Optical control of cubic nonlinearity in azo-polymer thin films

Abstract

Optical controlled third harmonic generation in azo polymer thin films via one-or two-photon excitation is demonstrated. This effect is attributed to reversible change of third order susceptibility due to trans-to-cis isomerization of azo-bond molecules.
