Proposal for a near-field optical nano-switch

Abstract

A novel approach towards a nano-switch is proposed. Yukawa interaction allows signal transmission through confined states of nanometric quantum dots. Switching time, which is controlled by another dot locally excited/de-excited, is estimated at sub-nanosecond.
