Laser nano-engineering with the assistance of scanning probe microscope and optical resonance in microparticles

Abstract

Nanostructures can be fabricated using laser irradiating at the conductive tip of a scanning probe microscope. The conductive tip behaves like an attenna which receives electromagnetic energy from the laser beam and then emitts eletromagnetic wave in nanometer range. In microparticles irradiated by laser beam, optical resonance in the particles can provide energy emission from the particle in a range much smaller than the particle size.
