Nonlinear optical properties of organometallic crystals for blue violet light generation

Open Access Open Access

Abstract

Efficient diode laser based blue-violet light sources have wide applications in optical storage and laser printing. Frequency doubling of infrared diode laser has become a leading technique for developing compact blue-violet light device. This paper reported the nonlinear optical properties of a series of organometallic crystals. Among the crystals, CMTC crystal possesses large nonlinear optical coefficients, and is transparent from 375 to 2500 nm. Large CMTC single crystal with size 18 * 18 * 30 mm were grown in our laboratory by using slow cooling method. Very recently, 1.8 milliwatt violet light (404.5 nm) generation of second harmonic of GaAlAs diode laser has been obtained on CMTC crystal, and the conversion efficiency was larger than 0.3%.
