Abstract

The superposition principle of quantum mechanics lies at the heart of the mystery of quantum theory. Consequently much interest has focused on generating and detecting the optical manifestation of the coherent superposition state.1 The coherent superposition state is characterised by the presence of interference fringes in a homodyne measurement.
