Abstract
The guided acoustic wave Brillouin scattering (GAWBS) in optical fibers is a severe problem in the field of quantum optics.1 The GAWBS is a very weak forward scattering which is induced by the guided acoustic wave originated from the thermal fluctuation inside the fiber. So far, the characteristics of the GAWBS in conventional single-mode fibers are well studied by two groups.1,2 However, for the polarization maintaining (PM) fibers, the characteristics of the GAWBS are not sufficiently made clear yet.
