Abstract

There is a growing need for CAD systems performing complex integrated optical device modelling. We are now developing an optical CAD system named PHOTONIX (PHOTONIC Simulator) and have recently presented a software package for the analysis and design of optical waveguides, PHOTONIX-GUIDE (PHOTONIX for optical waveGUIDE).¹ The use of this package is limited to waveguides uniform in cross section with the propagating z-direction, namely, z-invariant waveguides.
