Ultraviolet accumulated photon echoes by using synchrotron radiation

Abstract

We show, in this paper, the extension of the accumulated echo spectroscopy by the SR1 to the ultraviolet (UV) region. Femtosecond accumulated photon echoes were observed for the S0-S1 transition of an organic molecule (aniline) doped in polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) with the excitation by the SR at 310 nm. Our time resolution of 35 fs permitted successful detection of a phase relaxation time as short as 200 fs at low temperature.
