Abstract

Waveguide quasi-phase-matched second- harmonic generation (QPM-SHG) devices are being studied as a promising candidate for realization of a compact short wavelength coherent light source. Several techniques to form ferroelectric-domain- inverted gratings required for QPM have been studied. Recently voltage application method has been extensively studied,1−4 because it is expected to provide the optimum domain-inverted gratings for high-efficiency QPM-SHG devices. In this paper, we demonstrate reproducible fabrication of uniform grating structure in LiNbO3 by applying voltage and high-efficiency SHG in waveguide devices.
