Abstract
There is a growing interest in the develop ment of solid-state electrochromic devices (ECDs) for smart windows, rearview mirrors, solar cells, small - and large-area flat panel displays, and satellite temperature control applications. A typical configuration of an electrochromic device is glass/ITO/ WO3 (EC layer)/solid composite electrolyte/CeO2-TiO2 (Li-ion storage layer)/ ITO/glass. Tungsten trioxide (WO3) is considered to be one of the best materials for ECDs because of its fast coloring/bleaching response in the amorphous state. In this paper, we show that ECDs with WO3 electrochromic film and starch based solid polymeric electrolyte show the transparency difference of 20% between the colored and bleached states.
