Abstract
Recently it has been demonstrated theoretically and proven experimentally that by interleaving a 3D cubic lattice of split-ring resonators (SRR) with a 3D mesh of thin metallic wires, one can obtain a composite material for which both the electric permittivity ε(ω) and magnetic permeability μ(ω) are negative1−3 for frequencies in a certain band in the microwave region. The optical properties of such materials have been first investigated by Vaselago.4
