Abstract

The use of dispersion management has been shown to allow the transmission of data at 40 Gbit/s over distances greater than 1000 km in standard fiber.1,2 in this regime, it becomes difficult to find the optimal parameters to allow the maximum transmission distance. Here, we introduce a simple numerical technique to find the best average dispersion and input pulse chirp.
