Abstract

Multitransverse mode vertical-cavity surface- emitting semiconductor lasers (VCSELs) are generally used in multimode-fiber based optical transmission systems to reduce modal noise. Although the dynamics of VCSELs has been widely studied, the temporal dynamics of multimode VCSELs has been studied only with rathef slow photodiode detectors so far.12
