Abstract

Photonic crystals are intended for applications including single-mode light-emitting diodes and thresholdless lasers since they suppress the spontaneous cmission in the operating wavelength range, defined by the forbidden gap in the dispersion spectrum of the photonic bandgap (PBG) crystal possessing a large contrast of refractive indices.
