Abstract
In this paper we report on what is to our knowledge the first ultrashort-pulse laser oscillator producing nearly-bandwidth-limited optical pulses with durations less than 10 fs. This performance has been achieved by employing specially-designed chirped multilayer mirrors1 for broadband group-delaydispersion (GDD) control in a self-mode-locked Ti:sapphire laser.
