Two-dimensional smoothing of a laser-beam pattern by using color-cyclic light from an optical fiber

Abstract

In laser-fusion experiments laser-irradiation uniformity is a crucial issue. The glass laser is a well-developed energy driver, however, it requires high-efficiency harmonic conversion and new technologies for beam smoothing. Beam smoothing by spectral dispersion1 (SSD) is one candidate for satisfying these requirements.
