Abstract

A compact and low-cost blue light source is required for high-density optical data storage application. The generation of blue light by direct frequency doubling of laser diode emission seems to be the most promising way of making, such a, device, For this purpose, second-harmonic generation (SHG) by quasiphasematching (QPM) has been studied extensively using periodically domain-inverted waveguides in LiNbO3,1,2 LiTaO33 and KTP.4
