Abstract

Continues-wave measurement based methods provide a rapid, cost effective way to determine the reduced scattering and absorption coefficients in turbid media. These methods usually require an accurate measure of the sample's refractive index, which is often unknown a priori. We propose a non-iterative least squares minimization scheme for determining the refractive index of the sample, as well as for providing a good initial guess of the optical properties for the usual iterative-based least squares fitting.
