Abstract

We report hardness and Young’s modulus measurements for two recently developed and very promising non-chalcopyrite mid-IR crystals, BaGa₂GeS₆ and BaGa₂GeSe₆. The hardness is 455 kg/mm² for the sulfide and 408 kg/mm² for the selenide compound.
