A spatio-temporal coherent combining scheme is implemented to scale the output energy of fiber-based nonlinear compression setup. The generation of 32 replicas (16 temporal × 2 spatial) of the incident femtosecond laser field allows us to achieve spectral broadening in a large-core rod-type fiber beyond the self-focusing power limit of fused silica. We thus demonstrate the generation 71 fs 7.5 µJ 86 MW peak-power pulses.
