Dispersion Slope Compensation Using EDC and FEC in a 24×10 Gb/s 7800 km Fiber Transmission System

Abstract

We compared EDC and FEC for dispersion slope compensation in a 24×10-Gb/s 7800km WDM system. The simulation results show FEC has better performance at lower dispersion and EDC is better for large accumulated dispersion.
