Abstract

Ball Aerospace manufactures multi-pixel short-wave infra-red (SWIR) Geiger-mode avalanche photodiode (GmAPD) light detection and ranging (LIDAR) receivers for military and various commercial markets. This work reviews the synchronous and asynchronous single photon-sensitive sensor operation, production, and applications.
