Abstract

Hydroxychloroquine sulfate--trade name Plaquenil--is an antimalarial therapeutic agent derived from chloroquine. Hydroxychloroquine is also important for its use as an anti-inflammatory agent in the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis and discoid and systemic lupus erythematosus(1).
