High-speed photonic integrated devices for advanced modulation formats

Abstract

We review recent developments of novel hybrid photonic-integrated modulators consisting of III-V devices and silica-on-silicon planar lightwave circuits. We discuss the device technology platform and the device applications to 80/100-Gb/s optical transmission and beyond.
