32mb/S Optical Fiber Transmission System

Optical fiber transmission is now well defined. The losses of optical fibers are reduced to less than 3dB/km at 0.85μm, and the lifetime of a laser diode is proved to be more than 10,000 hours. These values should be rewritten within a few years. System considerations are also underway for introducing optical fiber transmission systems into existing and/or future transmission networks,[1] and several systematic experiments have been planned and reported[2] -[4]י
