Abstract

Temperature dependences of Cr2+ spectral and laser characteristics of Cr:ZnSe and Cr:Zn1-xMnxSe (x≈0.05, 0.1, 0.2, and 0.3) single crystals are compared and reported for ~1.73 μm laser excitation. Slope efficiency of ~44% at 78 K with pulse duration of ~140 ns was demonstrated.
