Abstract

We report the demonstration of FM spectroscopy with a multimode cw laser that in most cases preserves the high sensitivity of FM spectroscopy with a single-mode laser without the stringent alignment requirements. Sensitivity to absorptions as small as 10−4 can be inferred from our measurements, and the restrictions on modulation frequencies for small sample times are explored.
