Lamb-dip observation with a Q-switched CO2 laser

Abstract

Heterodyning a passively Q-switched CO2 laser against a stable cw CO2 laser produced a ~0.2-MHz-wide beat frequency. The line width of the Q-switched CO2 laser is thus sufficiently narrow to stabilize the laser on the Lamb dip in the 4.3-μm fluorescence of CO2.
