RotaryFROG: geometry for measuring amplitude and phase of weak broadband laser pulses

Abstract

We introduce a novel geometry for obtaining amplitude and phase information from weak and broadband laser pulses in the femto- to picosecond regime by rotating a second-harmonic-generation crystal about an axis, nearly collinear with the direction of propagation of the incident light. This method also permits in situ polarization measurements.
