Abstract

We demonstrate a Nd:YAG laser emitting radially polarized, mode-locked 140ps long pulses by exploiting the thermally induced birefringence of a Nd:YAG crystal. The laser repetition rate is 82MHz, the maximum average output power is 3W, and the beam quality is close to the theoretical value of M2=2.
