One-way image transmission with a pair of multimode optical fibers and a phase-conjugate mirror

Abstract

One-way image transmission in a pair of multimode optical fibers was successfully achieved in a short distance regime. The destroyed image-bearing beam from the first fiber was launched to the second fiber with its wave front inverted by a BaTiO3 self-pumped phase-conjugate mirror. The transmission length was 200 mm. Incompleteness of the reconstructed images was analyzed by a ray-tracing simulation. It was found that this technique requires precisely manufactured and processed optical fibers and fine adjustment of fiber positioning.
