Abstract
An integrated imaging system is demonstrated with 32 × 32 channels in an area of 1.6 mm × 1.6 mm. All optical components are implemented as diffractive optical elements and monolithically integrated on a quartz-glass substrate of 50-mm diameter and 6-mm thickness. Very low optical cross talk was measured among the channels (cross-talk suppression >200:1). The design of the optical system is described, and experimental results are shown. A discussion on the limits of the space–bandwidth product is presented.
