Abstract
Data are presented for additively colored KI:Na, which identifies the (F2)A absorption and emission bands as peaking at 1.03 and 1.62 μm, respectively. These transitions differ from those previously attributed to this defect. (F2+)A centers also were produced and found to absorb near 1.52 μm and emit near 2.36 μm. The (F2+)A emission would be of interest for use in achieving tunable color-center laser action.
