Virtual optical nonlinearity in GaAs–AlAs superlattices

Abstract

We report a full-scale calculation of the third-order susceptibility, χ(3), in GaAs–AlAs superlattices. We present the frequency dependence of χ(3) and find a favorable figure of merit for near-resonant enhancement of χ(3).
