Abstract

The problem of a nonreciprocal phase shifter comprising a magneto-optic slab is formulated using scaled parameters. Nonreciprocity is attributed to polarization effects in TM modes propagating in asymmetric waveguides under an applied external magnetic field. Simple design guidelines are presented for an isolator that uses these propagation effects.
