Abstract

The dependence of the intensity of Raman scattering on liquid particles in the size range 60 ≤ x ≤ 120 is investigated experimentally. A slowly evaporating particle is stably trapped by light pressure in a vertical focused laser beam. The elastically scattered light is recorded simultaneously with the inelastically scattered Raman light. From a comparison of the elastically scattered light with calculations the particle size was determined precisely. An approximate method is given for calculation of the Raman intensity. The intensity of Raman scattering shows a large number of input and output resonances, exceeding the number of resonances of elastic scattering. The nonresonant part of the intensity of Raman scattering is proportional to the particle volume.
